Business Controller, Bravida

Bravida is one of the leading providers of building services and technical services in the Nordic region. We design, implement and maintain solutions that enable functional, safe and energy-efficient buildings. Building services engineering is at the heart of some of society’s most significant changes, where energy efficiency, the green transition and the use of technology are constantly creating new opportunities to develop our business.

Bravida’s strength lies in combining the stability of a large, international listed company with the entrepreneurial approach of its local units. Decisions are made where the customers, projects and business operations are. In practice, this means that you’ll have a genuine say in your own area of responsibility and be able to see the results of your work.

We are currently looking for a Business Controller in Turku to support business operations in the Southern and Southwest Finland region (EVS) and to act as an active advisor to regional management and unit managers.

Key areas of responsibility and objectives of the role

At Bravida, finance is an integral part of business management, and as a Business Controller, you will act as a key financial partner for a business with a turnover of around 60 million euros. You will work closely with the Regional Director, Unit Managers and Project Managers, bringing a financial perspective to operational decision-making and helping the business to identify opportunities and risks. The role centres on ensuring and developing the business’s profitability in a project-driven environment. You will support the business in terms of predictability, responsiveness and the management of deviations.

Key areas of responsibility for the role:

  • You will be responsible for the financial monitoring, reporting, forecasting and analysis for the region.
  • You will analyse the profitability of projects, stage-by-stage revenue recognition, profit margins and the reliability of forecasts.
  • You support the business in improving profitability and identify deviations and areas for improvement.
  • You will monitor net working capital and contribute to improving performance right up to EBITA level.
  • You will develop reporting and operating models to support operational decision-making.
  • You will be involved in group reporting and the development of processes and systems.
  • You will support the business in developing its financial understanding, in collaboration with the unit’s management.
  • Where necessary, you will be involved in corporate restructuring, as well as integration and development projects.

During your first few months, you will familiarise yourself with Bravida’s business model, the revenue recognition process for projects and the specific characteristics of the services business. At the same time, you will build trusting relationships with regional management and key business contacts.

Over the course of the year, your objective will be to enhance the predictability of the business, develop reporting to support operational decision-making, and improve the ability to respond to profitability variances. In the longer term, you will act as a key business partner, actively influencing the development of the region’s profitability and performance.

What sort of skills are required for this role?

You have gained experience in financial management, reporting and analysis within a business context. In addition, you have experience of project-based business, where monitoring and forecasting project profitability, as well as stage-based revenue recognition, play a key role. You understand the big picture when it comes to finance, but you are also able to engage with the business side in a practical and persuasive manner. You have the ability to bring a financial perspective to decision-making and to challenge others constructively.

In your approach to work, you are analytical, proactive and solution-oriented. You can see both the big picture and, where necessary, the details behind it. For this role, you’ll need a good command of Finnish and English. Knowledge of Swedish would be an advantage.

What makes this opportunity interesting?

In this role, you won’t be confined to a back-office reporting role, but will act as an active advisor to business management and have a tangible impact on profitability. You’ll have the opportunity to work at the interface between projects, the service business and operational management, and to influence how the business is managed and developed in practice. You’ll see first-hand how decisions impact the bottom line.

We offer the stability and operating models of an international listed company, whilst also providing the opportunity to work closely with the business. This role offers the chance to take on greater responsibility and develop your career both in Finland and within our international group.

Could this be your next career move?

If you enjoy the dynamic nature of projects, turning figures into decisions, and want to have a practical impact on the development of business profitability, this could be the next step in your career.

If this role has caught your interest, we’d love to hear more about you. We’d be happy to tell you more about the role, the organisation and what’s expected of you in this position.
