Head of IT & AI, Nevel Oy

Nevel is an infrastructure services company that provides advanced industrial and property infrastructure solutions which are fit for purpose and future-proof. Committed to climate-positive growth, Nevel promotes social impact by working together to create local circular economies and accelerating the transition to carbon-neutral energy production. Nevel serves nearly 100 industrial customers and over 5,000 property customers with decentralised energy and circular economy solutions. The company operates over 130 energy production plants and manages over 40 district heating networks. Nevel has a turnover of 150 million euros and employs 190 experts in Finland, Sweden and Estonia.

Come and help us build a climate-positive future! We are looking for a Head of IT & AI to take on a group-level role, leading Nevel’s IT, data, AI and digitalisation operations. The role is based at Tripla in Helsinki, and we operate on a hybrid working model.

The focus of the role is on business transformation through technology, rather than the operational maintenance of core IT systems. You recognise the opportunities presented by data, artificial intelligence, automation and digitalisation; prioritise the development portfolio; and drive projects forward in collaboration with the business to deliver measurable benefits. You will lead a team of three, manage the budget, resources and partners, and ensure information security, business continuity and compliance with key regulatory requirements in collaboration with the Security and Legal functions.

The role reports to the COO and operates across Finland, Sweden and Estonia. It also offers the opportunity to take on greater responsibility in the future.

  1. Your key responsibilities

• Developing and implementing a business-driven IT, data and AI strategy and roadmap.

• Turning opportunities in AI, data, automation and digitalisation into tangible business benefits.

• Managing the development and project portfolio, business cases, prioritisation and the monitoring of benefits.

• Managing the IT team, budget, resources, service providers and suppliers.

• Ensuring information security, business continuity, risk management and compliance with key requirements, such as the GDPR, NIS2 and the AI Act.

  1. To succeed in this role, you will need

• Extensive experience in IT, technology, data or digitalisation management, as well as a proven track record in leading business-driven development.

• Experience in identifying, prioritising and implementing AI, data, automation or digitalisation projects.

• Experience of line management, project portfolio management, budgeting, resourcing and collaboration with partners.

• A strong understanding of business and finance, and the ability to demonstrate the value of technology projects.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, the ability to get things done, and a coaching-style leadership approach.

• A relevant university degree or equivalent strong practical experience, as well as the ability to work fluently in English.

We consider it an advantage experience in industry, energy, infrastructure or the international business environment, as well as in data and AI governance, information security regulation and the Swedish language.

  1. We offer you

A business-critical and wide-ranging management role within an international energy infrastructure company whose operations support the green transition. You’ll have the opportunity to help shape Nevel’s next phase of data and AI development, influence the Group’s operating practices and deliver tangible results within a flat, development-oriented working environment.

At Nevel, we are committed to providing our employees and partners with a safe and healthy working environment through practices that prevent accidents and promote well-being and psychological safety. Our goal is zero accidents! Our values include curiosity and development: we work hard, but we also remember to have fun together. We respect expertise: we value our colleagues, the diversity of our workplace and a healthy work-life balance.
