We are looking for a practical and influential CEO for Loviisa Satama Oy
Loviisa Port Ltd is a strategically important port company specialising in bulk and breakbulk traffic, serving the logistical needs of industry and the energy sector. The port handles significant volumes of products from the construction and energy industries and, increasingly, material flows from the circular economy.
The port area's extensive storage and field areas and functioning quays support both current and future logistical needs. Our small and agile core organisation of three people enables rapid decision-making and direct contact with operational activities. The Port of Loviisa Port Company is owned 60 % by the Port of Helsinki and 40 % by the City of Loviisa, so operational support and expertise is provided by the Port of Helsinki.
Loviisa Port Ltd is a financially very stable and profitable company. In 2025, the turnover was EUR 1.8 million and the operating profit rate was around 10 %. The port is continuously developing its operations and service capabilities, especially for the needs of the energy and circular economy and security of supply.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a logistics leader who wants to combine strategic development, operational management and active stakeholder engagement in a locally visible role.
Roles and responsibilities
As CEO, you will be responsible for the strategic and financial management of the company, operations, safety, communications and the development of port infrastructure. The role combines strategic direction with hands-on management. The role requires the ability to work convincingly with owners, customers, authorities, residents and partners, and to work in a strong network environment. You will also act as a proxy for Loviisa Port Authority Ltd.
Your main areas of responsibility
- Strategic and financial management of the port
- Ensuring operations, safety and customer experience
- Development of port infrastructure and preparation of investments
- Customer contracts and rental negotiations
- Stakeholder and media relations and representation of the port at regional and national level
- Risk management, licensing and preparedness
- Operational management of Loviisa Satamakiinteistöt Oy within the scope of the mandate
- The CEO reports to the Board of Directors of Loviisa Port Ltd, chaired by Ville Haapasaari
What we expect from you
We expect you to have experience in the logistics sector and an understanding of its operating models. You should have a proven track record of business leadership and overall financial management. You will be fluent with stakeholders and able to interact convincingly with owners, authorities, customers and local residents. You are a calm, constructive, firm and well-informed leader who is comfortable working in a small organisation close to day-to-day operations.
We value a hands-on approach, the ability to prioritise and the willingness to take on operational tasks. You are goal-oriented, interactive and keep your direction clear even in changing situations.
Experience
- Managerial or supervisory roles in logistics, industrial logistics, port operations, shipping, freight forwarding or transport.
- Experience of business responsibilities: budgeting, profitability and financial monitoring
- Experience of managing people
- Experience in stakeholder cooperation (owners, authorities, customers, residents)
- Good Finnish and English
We consider it an advantage
- Experience in port operations, shipping or infrastructure business
- Evidence of combining strategic and operational management in a small organisation
- Experience in investment and infrastructure development
- Understanding of safety and licensing processes
- Swedish language skills
