Executive search in Helsinki

We will find a leader who will put the strategy into practice

We carry out direct searches for senior executives in Helsinki and across the Helsinki metropolitan area. A management vacancy opening up in Helsinki is competing for the same pool of candidates as dozens of other vacancies. The best candidates do not look for jobs publicly, and many of them are already just a phone call away from a competitor. That is why the outcome of the search depends on how well we understand the candidate’s situation, motivations and values before the discussion even begins.

We carry out direct recruitment for chief executive officers, members of the executive team and other key personnel. Our office is located at Itämerentori 2, so we meet both clients and candidates face-to-face whenever necessary.

Direct executive search is rarely just about recruitment. It is a moment when it is worth pausing to consider what kind of expertise or perspective will take the company towards its next goals. We’ll have that discussion with you before the search begins.

How do we carry out a search?

Two consultants for each recruitment drive

No one carries out a direct search on their own. Every assignment involves at least two consultants, and we select them based on who has experience in the client’s sector or the role being recruited for.

The consultants have led the work themselves

Our consultants have held positions as managing directors, business directors and HR directors. Having led change processes themselves, they recognise the kind of leadership it requires.

The timetable is agreed and adhered to

We agreed on the timetable straight away during the initial meeting. Our part of the process – the search for candidates and their assessment – will be completed in a few weeks, as there are several people involved.

The candidate knows exactly what’s going on at all times

We’ll let candidates know what happens next and when we’ll be in touch. We’ll also provide personalised feedback to those candidates who do not progress further in the process. This is directly reflected in your employer brand.

The executive recruitment market in the Helsinki metropolitan area is in a league of its own

The vast majority of the headquarters of large companies and the Finnish operations of international groups are located in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The same region also has the highest concentration of growth companies, private equity-backed firms and publicly owned groups. The pool of candidates is therefore large, but it is also well known to everyone else.

In practice, this means two things. The search must be conducted confidentially, as news travels fast in Helsinki and an ongoing search can be damaging to both the company and the candidate. And the search must be carried out swiftly, as a good candidate is rarely available for long.

We serve the entire Helsinki metropolitan area. In addition to Helsinki, we carry out recruitment for companies in Espoo and Vantaa, and, where necessary, we source candidates from across Finland and the other Nordic countries.

This is how the search works

We’ll start by defining the role together. We’ll go through the direction the company is heading in and what is actually expected of the new manager. Right from the outset, we’ll provide examples of potential candidate profiles so that we can refine the search criteria before we begin the recruitment process.

Following the search phase, we will go through the shortlisted candidates with you, support you during the final interviews and, where necessary, carry out reference checks and suitability assessments. We will also assist you with the decision-making process.

The search does not end with the selection. The Equita First 100 Days coaching programme supports new managers even before their first day at work, and forms a natural part of the direct recruitment solution.

Who carries out the search?

Our Finnish team comprises around twenty experienced managers and specialists. Their backgrounds range from industry and construction to healthcare, logistics, energy and publicly owned groups, and we always select experts in the relevant field for each assignment.

The contact person at the Helsinki office is Niclas Ahlbom, tel. +358 40 066 2270.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your office located?

Our address is Itämerentori 2, 00180 Helsinki. We’d be happy to meet in person, but we can also hold an initial consultation remotely.

Do you also carry out searches in Espoo and Vantaa?

Yes. We serve the entire Helsinki metropolitan area from the same office. We also carry out assignments elsewhere in Finland, as our consultants are not tied to any one location.

How long does the executive search take?

We agree on a timetable during the initial discussion and stick to it. Our part of the search and the assessment of candidates typically takes a few weeks. The overall duration depends on how quickly the final interviews and the decision can be arranged.

Together we will find the right direction.

What is the difference between direct recruitment and headhunting?

The process is the same. Direct recruitment of senior management refers to filling the roles of the Chief Executive Officer, members of the executive team and other senior management positions. Headhunting is a broader concept and also covers the recruitment of other key personnel. Read more our headhunting service.

Is there a management position available or about to become available?

Tell us about your situation, and we’ll work out together which type of search is best suited to it. The initial discussion is under no obligation.
