The economy of Southwest Finland relies on the maritime industry, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, food production and the logistics sector centred around the port. These are heavily regulated and capital-intensive sectors, in which a manager must have a good understanding of both production and regulatory requirements.
Specialisation narrows down the pool of candidates. When a role requires, for example, experience in the shipbuilding industry or pharmaceutical manufacturing, there are only a limited number of suitable candidates in Finland, and almost all of them are already in employment. In such cases, direct recruitment is, in practice, the only way forward.
There are also plenty of bilingual companies operating in the region. Our team includes consultants who speak Swedish, as well as our own team in Sweden, so applications can be submitted in both national languages.
