The economy of Southwest Finland relies on the maritime industry, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, food production and the logistics sector centred around the port. These are heavily regulated and capital-intensive sectors, in which a manager must have a good understanding of both production and regulatory requirements.
Specialisation narrows the candidate pool. When a role requires experience of, say, shipbuilding or pharmaceutical manufacturing, there are only a limited number of suitable people in Finland and almost all of them are already employed. In that situation, executive search is in practice the only way forward.
There are also many bilingual companies in the region. Our team includes Swedish-speaking consultants and we have our own team in Sweden, so searches can be carried out in both of Finland’s official languages.
First, we agree on how we will work together and define the role to be filled. At the same time, we agree a timetable and make sure everyone shares the same understanding of what the search is meant to achieve.
At the end of the search phase, we present the candidates, provide guidance on the decision-making process and, where necessary, carry out reference checks and suitability assessments. The new manager’s induction can be supported with ‘First 100 Days’ coaching.
For searches in Southwest Finland, we select consultants with experience of manufacturing and regulated businesses. Our Finnish team is made up of around twenty experienced leaders and specialists, with backgrounds ranging from industry and construction to healthcare, logistics and energy.

Our office is located at Itämerentori 2, Helsinki. We carry out assignments throughout Finland, and we meet with clients and candidates in Turku either in person or remotely, whichever is most convenient at the time.
The timetable is finalised right at the start. The search for and assessment of candidates typically takes us a few weeks, after which we present the options. The pace of the rest of the process depends on how quickly the interviews can be fitted into the calendar.
