Sustainability Manager – Seepsula Oy

Seepsula Oy is seeking Sustainability Manager to respond to and develop the company's overall responsibility and environmental management. The role is central and directly linked to Seepsula's long-term strategy and business development.

Seepsula Oy is a Finnish family-owned company and a leading aggregates supplier in Uusimaa. The company's operations are based on long-term commitment, high security of supply and environmentally responsible solutions. The Sustainability Manager plays a key role in ensuring continuity, proactivity and compliance in a changing regulatory and stakeholder environment.

Mission

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for the overall management of the company's environmental and sustainability work. The role is development and expertise driven and requires the ability to link regulation, practice and business needs. The role involves working closely with the whole organisation and external stakeholders. The Sustainability Manager will be part of the Seepsula Management Team and report to the CEO.

Key areas of responsibility

The role will focus in particular on environmental issues and the further development of sustainability in the company's operations. Responsibilities include:

  • monitoring, interpreting and translating environmental legislation and regulation into practice
  • coordination and responsible management of environmental and land use permit processes and EIA matters
  • monitoring compliance with permit conditions and cooperation with the authorities
  • managing, measuring, systematically monitoring and reporting on the environmental impact of operations
  • developing the sustainability strategy and integrating it into the company’s strategy and risk management work
  • developing sustainability reporting – moving from GRI to VSME reporting
  • developing environmental management systems, guidelines and policies, and coordinating audits
  • supporting and training staff on sustainability issues

The work will be carried out on a project basis, using external expertise where necessary, for example to support the permitting process and assessments.

Expectations for success in the job

Success in this role requires the ability to manage large-scale projects, but also an interest in detail and practical implementation. We expect you to:

  • experience in managing environmental and/or authorisation processes
  • evidence of responsible implementation of project-based packages
  • a good understanding of environmental legislation, sustainable development principles and the responsibility framework
  • the ability to act independently in an expert role and to influence without direct managerial responsibility
  • interaction and negotiation skills in cooperation with public authorities and other stakeholders

An appropriate university or polytechnic degree will support the success of the role. Excellent Finnish language skills are essential and English language skills are an advantage.

We offer

Seepsula Oy offers the opportunity to build and develop sustainability operations in a truly impactful role. We offer:

  • an independent and responsible role at the heart of the company's core business and strategy
  • the possibility of influence at management level
  • a long-term family business environment where decision-making is not based on short-term, quarterly thinking
  • the opportunity to build long-term accountability structures in an industry where decisions have an impact for decades to come
  • competitive remuneration
  • working location in Tuusula and flexible teleworking practices, taking into account the nature of the assignment
